CHAPTER 7
Attorney fees for a basic Chapter 7 bankruptcy case are typically $1,400*. The total cost is approximately $1,800 after the $338 filing fee, a comprehensive credit report, and the mandatory courses. Most cases can be filed upon payment of $1,500, with the balance paid over a 2 month period after filing.
By retaining our office you can avoid the biggest expense possible, a carelessly filed bankruptcy resulting in a denial of discharge or unkowingly being required to turn over thousands of dollars to the bankruptcy trustee.
NO ATTORNEY FEES DOWN
Payment plans are available. If you are in an emergency situation we can usually file a basic bankruptcy petition for a small amount down to stop lawsuits and collections and discuss options to complete your case with installment payments after the initial filing. This option is a bit more complicated (and in the long run more expensive) but it's an option for those that need immediate relief with a chapter 7 bankruptcy and that have limited funds. Call or submit a consultation request to discuss your situation and options in detail.
* Attorney fees may be lower or higher based upon your situation. Some cases are simply more complicated and time consuming than normal. When a business is involved, asset protection planning is necessary, or if other complications exist, additional fees may be charged. In these circumstances the fee paid will be well worth the money we save you with the additional services performed.
CHAPTER 13
Chapter 13 is unique because the attorney fees are typically paid in part during the 3 to 5 year payment plan (averaging about $80/mo) and may actually reduce the amount of money paid to creditors. Your case may be filed for as little as $500 up front, depending on the situation. The court approved base attorney fees for Chapter 13 cases in Utah is $4,500 to $5,100, based on the complexity of the case.
