INTRODUCTION
What Is Probate?

Simply put, probate is a legal process that takes place after someone dies where their will (if any) is validated, debts are settled, and property is distributed.

What Is A Will?

A will is a legal document that allows you to state how to distribute your property after your death and also to nominate a person to care for your minor children. If you don't make a will before your death, state law will determine who gets your property and a judge may decide who will raise your children (and it may not be who you would have chosen).

What Is A Living Trust?

A Living Trust is a document that helps with more advanced estate planning. There are many things that can be done with a trust and many different kinds of trusts. A Trusts is different from Will in part because it is effective immediately after it is created unlike a Will which only takes effect upon your death. Trusts are helpful in avoiding probate (and keeping your wishes private) and in making sure that your assets are managed according to your wishes, both during and after your life.

What Is An Advanced Healthcare Directive / Living Will?

An advanced healthcare directive allows you to state your health care preferences and to appoint someone with legal authority to act on your behalf if you are unable to communicate your medical wishes.

What Is A Guardinship, Conservatorship & Springing Power of Attorney?

These are various documents that allow a designated agent to control the affairs of a person if the signor becomes incapacitated.
